Definately try some Bumbleberry Pie
Posted on Aug. 28th, 2010 by Kindra Gordon
Custer has a special purple and pink inspired building lovingly known by folks far and near as the Purple Pie Place. And it is indeed a swell place to treat yourself to a giant piece of pie.

They have all the flavors you can imagine – apple, peach, rhubarb, pecan, peanut butter and banana cream – and everything in between. But there’s one flavor that you might not have thought of by yourself…bumbleberry. It’s a concoction of rhubarb, blueberry, strawberry, apple and who knows what else. I can only say that I enjoyed every last morsel of mine and the large scoop of vanilla ice cream that came with it.
The Purple Pie Place has new owners as of May 2010, Bob and Kat Yehle who came to the area from California. He’s a former contractor, she has restaurant experience and is the pie baker – Kat’s daughter has lived in Custer for the past five years and operated Baker’s Bakery on Main Street. So food is kind of a family affair.
The Yehle’s have expanded their Pie Place to also include a selection of homemade soups and sandwiches, and they offer an online store, so you can have pies shipped directly to you.

Under new ownership.

Bob and Kathy Yehle are the new owners of the Purple Pie Place. New owners and a facelift but still the same GREAT pies!
